OpenAccounts Wins UK’s Most Sought After Accounting Software Award
OpenAccounts Financial Management System (FMS) has been awarded the title of Enterprise Software Package of the Year at the Accountancy Age Awards 2009 for its financial management system (FMS). Beating off tough competition from Oracle, SAP, CODA, Netsuite and TechnologyOne, OpenAccounts was declared the winner at an awards ceremony held at the Battersea Park Arena, London, on 18 November 2009. This is the fifth time OpenAccounts has been crowned the winner, having made the final every year since 2000.
The Accountancy Age Awards celebrate outstanding achievements within the UK accountancy industry and are widely acknowledged as the benchmark by which success in this industry is measured. The Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts including financial directors and chief executives from leading UK organisations.
OpenAccounts FMS was judged on a range of criteria including customer care; design quality, ease of use and reliability; functionality and technical innovation; impact on the bottom line, growth, markets and value for money. The judges commended the high quality of customer testimonials and also agreed that OpenAccounts FMS offers a breadth and depth of functionality that meets the needs of today’s larger sized organisations.
OpenAccounts FMS, part of the Smart Business Suite, is a fully integrated suite of financial accounting modules that enable users to improve productivity and increase efficiency in the finance department. These modules include electronic procurement, cash flow forecasting, financial analytics as well as advanced budgeting, planning and forecasting.

OpenLogistix receives order for £600,000 integrated logistics and warehouse system from energy company E.ON.
OpenLogistix has today won an order for a £600,000 integrated logistics and warehouse system from energy company E.ON, one of the UK’s leading integrated power and gas companies.
Following a competitive tendering process including reviewing the current SAP systems, E.ON chose an integrated solution from OpenLogistix Systems comprising OpenLogistix supply chain software utilising the intranet with eBIS Exchange with the ATMS warehouse management system. E.ON UK selected the solution due to the understanding of the requirements shown by OpenLogistix and ATMS staff, the depth and flexibility of the solution and the ability to closely align with the company's existing business systems and processes.
The system will enable Supply Chain staff to accurately record stock at E.ON’s many depots, including main warehouses, hubs and dead drop locations and track all serial numbered meters, consumables, PPE, uniforms and tools to and from point of issue. The project also needed to incorporate the installation of wireless remote data capture with bar code scanning devices for the receipt and issue of stock and materials.
The integrated software solution, due to go live by August 2009, will dramatically reduce manual data entry, increase control and improve efficiencies in management reporting allowing managers to directly access real time information via the desktop.
